Sixty-one people testified Thursday at a Board of Regents meeting on the UH Hilo campus, most opposing construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on Mauna Kea.
Testifiers said the demonstrations, which are happening on Mauna Kea and across the state, signify Hawaiians standing up for what they consider sacred.
