National Public Radio: The operator of Japan's besieged nuclear power plant began pumping moderately radioactive water into the ocean to make room for water that's more severely contaminated.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. says the release of the water, which has radiation levels above the legal limit, is necessary to bring the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear reactors fully under control.
Most of the radioactive material in the water is iodine-131, which will essentially decay away to nothing in the next few months. Japanese......
